So with spring fully here and summer creeping in fast, Maria and I have been talking about finally making the switch to a CSA. We’ve always loved the idea, fresh, local produce straight from the farm, eating seasonally, supporting small growers, but never quite made the leap. That might change soon.
We’ve been to Flat Tack Farm a couple of times, and it’s been such a peaceful, down-to-earth experience every time. The produce looked amazing, the vibe was chill, and everything just felt intentional. We’re seriously considering signing up for their CSA, but along the way, we started digging around to see what other options are out there in and around Vancouver.
Here’s what we came up with, a list of verified, solid CSA programs that might help you too if you’ve been thinking about joining one.
Wait, What’s a CSA Again?
CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture". It’s basically a farm share: you sign up for a season (usually spring through fall), and every week or two, you get a box of freshly harvested fruits and veggies, sometimes even flowers, bread, eggs, or meat depending on the farm.
It’s great if you want to eat more seasonally, cook with what’s actually fresh, and reduce your dependency on grocery stores. We still shop at New Seasons and Trader Joe’s for last-minute stuff, don’t get me wrong—but there’s something really satisfying about opening your fridge and seeing food that didn’t travel 900 miles to get there.
CSA Farms Near Vancouver WA to Check Out
Flat Tack Farm
📍 9400 NE 134th St, Vancouver, WA
One of the most well-known CSAs in town. You can choose between box sizes, and their 22-week program runs May through October. They also offer add-ons like microgreens, mushrooms, and pasture-raised meat. Pick-up spots include the farm itself and even Portland locations.
Dilish Farm
📍 22904 NE 58th St, Vancouver, WA
This farm focuses on growing vegetables, flowers, and more—on-farm pickup only, which gives you a chance to actually meet the people growing your food. Super community-focused and always updating their offerings.
Full Plate Farm
📍 28502 NW 51st Ave, Ridgefield, WA
They do a fall/winter CSA, which is a rare find. Think hearty greens, root veggies, and cold-season crops. They also accept SNAP/EBT, which is awesome.
Sprout and Blossom Farm
📍 9400 NE 134th St, Vancouver, WA
Same pickup location as Flat Tack, but different vibe. They grow with organic practices and focus on quality over quantity. Their CSA is weekly with on-farm pickup.
Storytree Farm
📍 4613 NW 289th St, Ridgefield, WA 98642
Tucked into a residential area, this is a small family-run CSA with weekly shares. Perfect for someone looking for that ultra-local experience and a more curated box.
